The full account.
Yiannis Varelas is the founder of Five North, a firm working on financial-network infrastructure and products for the Canton ecosystem. The Canton Foundation describes the business as a proprietary trading and venture studio whose work includes fintech, data and crypto. Its focus on Canton includes building components used by financial applications and markets.
In a September 2026 article published by Five North, Varelas set out the operating priorities behind that work. He discussed predictable service, privacy and the day-to-day tasks of running validators, nodes and monitoring. He connected the reliability of applications to the infrastructure beneath them, describing network operation as part of the company's own product responsibility.
Five North's product catalogue includes the Loop suite, comprising a wallet, data service and software-development kit. Its validator tools cover administration, ledger-update preservation and hosted node infrastructure. The catalogue separately labels Seaport, for DAML application development and deployment, and an identity service as products in development. These are company activities rather than claims that Varelas created each product individually.
At Proof of Talk Paris 2026, Varelas was billed as Founder of 5North. He moderated How Regulated Institutions Deploy on Canton on 3 June, on the Taostats Stage at the Louvre Palace. The recorded panel connected his infrastructure focus with the practical question of institutional deployment.
The programme also listed him in Proof of Pitch - Canton Track later that day on the X Ventures Masterclass Stage. That shared pitch block included Keli Callaghan, Leeor Groen and Danish Chaudhry. The programme records his participation without assigning a separate individual pitch role. His two Paris appearances covered the use of Canton by established institutions and the businesses building within its ecosystem.
The next Proof of Talk is in Abu Dhabi.
Louvre Abu Dhabi, 3–4 December 2026. Admission is by application, and the room is capped at 2,000.
