Terms & Conditions
These terms govern your registration, attendance, and participation at Proof of Talk. By registering, you confirm that you have read and accepted them. If you register on behalf of someone else, you confirm they are aware of and accept these terms.
01 The organiser
Proof of Talk is organised by:
In these terms, "we," "us," and "the Organiser" refer to Proof of Talk UG. "You," "your," and "the Attendee" refer to the person who completes registration. "The Event" refers to Proof of Talk and any associated session organised by us.
02 Scope and the parties
These terms apply to consumers within the meaning of Sec. 13 BGB and to businesses (entrepreneurs) within the meaning of Sec. 14 BGB. Where a provision applies only to one group, this is stated. We do not recognise conflicting or additional terms put forward by a business attendee unless we have agreed to them in writing.
03 How a ticket purchase is made
You purchase tickets directly through the official Event website. By selecting a ticket and confirming your order, you make a binding offer to enter into a contract. The contract is concluded when we confirm your order by email. After payment is received, we issue your ticket electronically together with an invoice to the email address you provide.
The ticket is a personal, non-transferable licence to attend, except where transfer is expressly permitted for a given ticket category (see Section 7).
04 Ticket categories and eligibility
We may offer several ticket categories, some at reduced rates with specific eligibility conditions (for example, for startups or students). It is your responsibility to choose the category matching your situation. If you buy a ticket whose eligibility conditions you do not meet, you will not be entitled to the associated rights or to entry, and where a reduced rate was applied without entitlement we may require payment of the difference or cancel the registration.
05 Prices and payment
Prices are stated on the Event website and are correct at the time of publication. We may change prices at any time, but changes do not affect tickets already purchased.
Prices are shown net plus statutory VAT. The applicable VAT is the French VAT of 20%, charged on all ticket sales in accordance with EU and French rules on the place of supply for admission to events, regardless of where you are located.
A valid ticket entitles you to entry only. It does not include travel, accommodation, or related costs, for which we accept no liability. Payment is accepted by credit card, bank transfer, and, where offered, cryptocurrency. If payment by transfer is not received within ten (10) business days, we may cancel the order.
06 Cancellation and refunds
Tickets are non-refundable. If you are unable to attend, you may notify us in writing. Where you notify us more than fourteen (14) days before the first day of the Event, we may at our discretion offer a credit or transfer; this is a goodwill measure and not an entitlement. No refunds or credits are given for cancellations made within fourteen (14) days of the Event, or for non-attendance.
a) No statutory right of withdrawal
Tickets for the Event are services connected to a specific date and are therefore exempt from the consumer right of withdrawal under Sec. 312g(2) no. 9 BGB. By completing your purchase you acknowledge this exemption. This does not limit any mandatory statutory rights you have.
b) Cancellation by us
If we cancel the Event for reasons within our control, you are entitled to a refund of the ticket price you paid. In the event of postponement, your ticket remains valid for the rescheduled date; if you cannot attend the new date, you may request a refund of the ticket price.
c) Force majeure
If the Event cannot take place due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, such as an act of authority, natural disaster, or other force majeure event, we may cancel or postpone it. In that case we will refund the ticket price actually paid, less any non-recoverable third-party costs we have necessarily incurred and that are directly attributable to your booking, to the extent permitted by law. We are not liable for any further expenses you incur, such as travel or accommodation.
07 Name changes and transfers
Tickets are personal and, as a rule, may not be transferred. Some categories may be sold as expressly transferable, with a stated deadline. Where transfer is permitted, send your request and the new attendee's details to team@xventures.de before the stated deadline. We will void the original ticket and issue a code for the new attendee to register. Free tickets issued to media, speakers, and partners are not transferable.
08 Admission, identification, and conduct
Entry requires a valid ticket and official photo identification (ID card or passport) matching the registration details. If the details do not match, we may refuse entry without refund. For security, attendees must wear the official badge and wristband at all times and present identification on request.
You agree to conduct yourself appropriately and not to disrupt the Event or other attendees. Attendees who are not part of a partner team may not solicit business in a manner we reasonably consider unacceptable. We may refuse admission to, or remove from the venue, anyone who breaches these terms, the venue rules, or applicable law, or who poses a safety risk, without refund.
09 Programme and access to sessions
We aim to keep the programme, speakers, and venue details accurate at the time of publication, but circumstances beyond our control may require substitutions or changes to content, format, speakers, venue, or timing. We will publish updates on the Event website. Access to the Event is guaranteed; access to individual rooms is subject to capacity and is not guaranteed.
10 Photography, recording, and image rights
The Event may be photographed, filmed, and recorded by us or our authorised partners. By attending, you consent to the use of your likeness, voice, and image in connection with the Event for promotional, marketing, and editorial purposes across current and future media. If you do not wish to be photographed or recorded, please inform our staff or the photographer on site, and we will make reasonable efforts to respect your request. We are not responsible for recordings made by other attendees or the press.
Any recording of sessions by attendees is not permitted without our prior written approval.
11 Intellectual property
Trademarks, logos, presentations, and speeches shown at the Event remain the property of their owners. You may not reproduce, imitate, or publish them by any means without the written permission of the Organiser or the relevant rights holder.
12 Insurance
You are responsible for arranging your own insurance for your attendance. We have taken out professional liability insurance covering the Event. You agree to comply with the health and safety requirements displayed at the venue.
13 Liability
Views expressed by speakers are their own; we accept no responsibility for advice or opinions given at the Event. Materials shared at the Event are for information only.
We are liable without limitation for damages arising from injury to life, body, or health caused by us, and for damages caused intentionally or by gross negligence. For slight negligence, we are liable only where we breach a material contractual obligation (an obligation whose fulfilment makes proper performance of the contract possible and on which you may regularly rely), and in that case our liability is limited to the foreseeable damage typical for this type of contract. Any further liability is excluded. This does not affect liability under the German Product Liability Act or under any guarantee we expressly give.
14 Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms and the contract are governed by the law of the Federal Republic of Germany, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer, this choice of law does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory provisions of the law of your country of habitual residence.
Where you are a business, a legal entity under public law, or a special fund under public law, the courts of Aachen have exclusive jurisdiction for all disputes arising from this contract.
15 Dispute resolution
The European Commission provides a platform for online dispute resolution at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. We are not obliged and not willing to participate in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.
16 Severability
If any provision of these terms is or becomes invalid, the validity of the remaining provisions is unaffected.
