Andy Tang

Andy Tang is a partner at Draper Associates and a founding partner of Draper Dragon. He spoke at Proof of Talk Paris 2026 on both days of the edition. On 2 June he appeared in the Proof of Pitch General Track session on the Taostats Stage, alongside Rob Hadick, Diogo Mónica, Alice Li, Joseph Bruzzesi, Matthew Felice Pace, Simon Dedic and Viktor Y. On 3 June he joined the panel "Web3 Venture in 2026: What Still Gets Funded" on the Taostats Stage with Keli Callaghan, Leeor Groen and James Wo, moderated by Marc Baumann. Later that day he appeared on the Hecto Main Stage for the Proof of Pitch winner announcement for the General and Canton tracks, with Matthew Felice Pace and Viktor Y.

Tang came to venture capital from engineering. According to Draper Associates, he first worked in research and development on semiconductor technologies at MIT, where he earned a US patent, before moving into commercial operations at Intel. He then worked in investment banking at Credit Suisse before moving into corporate venture capital. A 2020 Silicon Dragon profile records him as a principal at Infineon Ventures from 2002 to 2006 and a managing director at ABB Technology Ventures from 2011 to 2014.

In 2006 he co-founded Draper Dragon with Tim Draper; the same 2020 profile described it as a China/US cross-border early-stage investment fund. Draper Associates' bio says he partnered with Tim Draper to launch the firm's first outside fund in 2014, and Silicon Dragon dates his partnership at the firm to 2015. The firm credits him with more than 20 years of venture investing across ten fund vintages at Draper, and with seeding more than 15 technology unicorns in software and AI, healthcare and biotech, crypto and fintech, and deep tech. His 2026 SuperReturn Middle East speaker profile lists Oklo, Ambiq, Coinbase, ICEYE, Colossal Biosciences and Ledger among those seeded unicorns. He also directs VCx, an invite-only alliance of family offices.

In a 2020 Silicon Global Online conversation, as summarised by Silicon Dragon, he identified three opportunities for blockchain: an optimised exchange to bring fiat currency into crypto, a more consumer-friendly interface, and a killer app.

He holds a BS in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Texas at Austin, an MS in electrical engineering from MIT and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
