Evan Cheng

Evan Cheng spoke at Proof of Talk Paris 2026 as co-founder and CEO of Mysten Labs. He took part in “What Institutions Need From Blockchain Infrastructure”, a fireside session on the Hecto Main Stage from 15:00 to 15:30 on 2 June, within the Tokenisation of Finance track. Ronit Ghose joined him and Frank Chaparro moderated. The programme paired the infrastructure company’s chief executive with a participant working on the future of finance, giving the session an institutional rather than solely developer focus.

Cheng’s current title remains co-founder and chief executive. Mysten Labs identified him that way in its announcement of 6 October 2026, independently reported by AIStockWire. The dated announcement supports retaining his CEO title separately from his June conference billing.

The October announcement introduced Verifiable Agent Arbiter, a system Mysten Labs is co-developing with Google Cloud. Its stated purpose is to let organisations check whether software agents acted within the authority they were given. The proposed design keeps detailed activity records in customer-controlled Google Cloud Storage, while placing cryptographic proofs on the Walrus data platform and coordinating them through the Sui blockchain. Initial enterprise deployments were described as planned ahead of broader availability. The announcement did not present the system as generally available.

This project follows the product direction Cheng discussed in a conversation published on the Sui blog on 27 January. He described a shift from demonstrating infrastructure to building products that people use, and connected Mysten’s stack with enabling automation. Read together, the January conversation and October announcement document a focus on the applications built around blockchain infrastructure. They provide dated context for his work after Paris without attributing any specific argument to his June fireside session.
