Hyunsu Jung
CEO, Hyperion DeFi
Hyunsu Jung runs Hyperion DeFi, a Nasdaq-listed company that presents its Hyperliquid token treasury as the base for operating businesses rather than the whole strategy.
Why the room needs them.
Hyunsu Jung, chief executive of Nasdaq-listed Hyperion DeFi, spoke at Proof of Talk Paris 2026 on digital asset treasuries. He was previously a portfolio manager at DARMA Capital.
The full account.
Hyunsu Jung is chief executive officer of Hyperion DeFi, Inc. (Nasdaq: HYPD), a company that describes itself as the first U.S. publicly listed DeFi company building on Hyperliquid. The company was previously Eyenovia, Inc., an ophthalmic technology business, and took its current name in July 2025 as it set out to build a strategic treasury of HYPE, the Hyperliquid protocol's native token.
According to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission dated 5 January 2026, Jung joined the company as chief investment officer and a director in June 2025, served as interim chief executive officer from September 2025, and was appointed chief executive officer in January 2026. From June 2021 to June 2025 he was a portfolio manager at DARMA Capital, an asset manager the filing describes as registered with the CFTC and NFA. From October 2018 to June 2021 he was a consultant at EY-Parthenon, working on finance and digital transformation for major M&A deals. He holds a B.A. from Vassar College.
The company's letter to shareholders of 12 January 2026, signed by Jung, said Hyperion established the "Kinetiq x Hyperion" validator within eight days of completing a $50 million private placement, and that it became the first institution to have its own liquid staking token, HiHYPE.
Jung has argued that Hyperion should be read as an operating business. In an interview with The Fly published on 23 July 2026, he said the company builds products and services for institutions on the Hyperliquid blockchain and gave its tagline as "more than just HYPE." Speaking to The Block on 18 June 2026, he said investors were underestimating Hyperliquid's transformation into a broader blockchain ecosystem, and that he expected it to gain the premium other Layer 1 blockchains carry. On 8 September 2026 the company raised its 2026 guidance and announced a $20 million share buyback programme, with Jung saying it expected core operations to break even on both profit and cash flow in the third quarter of 2026.
Jung spoke at Proof of Talk Paris 2026 in two sessions. On 2 June he took part in the fireside "The Role of Digital Asset Treasuries and the Investment Case Ahead" on the Taostats Stage, moderated by Hadley Stern, with Nico Pasquariello. On 3 June he was a speaker at the Digital Asset Treasuries Roundtable, a side event in the Roundtable Lounge, with Maja Vujinovic.
What Hyunsu believes about the next ten years.
Years of shipping.
Lines that keep proving correct.
“Most Layer 1 blockchains like Ethereum, Solana, XRP, even Cardano, they have that L1 premium. We expect the same thing to happen in Hyperliquid.”
“We build products and services geared toward institutions on the Hyperliquid blockchain.”
“We have now reached the inflection point we promised since day one: in Q3'26, we expect our core operations to break even from both a profit and cash flow perspective.”
