James Altucher

James Altucher is Digital Assets Advisor to TAO Synergies Inc., a Nasdaq-listed company (ticker TAOX) whose strategy, in its own description, centres on the Bittensor (TAO) ecosystem and decentralised AI. A company press release dated 8 July 2026 gives him that title and quotes him on the company's next phase: "becoming more active investors in subnets and building our own tools on decentralized AI, not just holding TAO." TAO Synergies' annual report for 2025 records a consulting agreement with him dated 8 June 2025, covering crypto portfolio management, investor relations, strategic planning and deal flow analysis, and an August 2025 company release described him as the leader of its digital asset treasury strategy.

He spoke at Proof of Talk Paris 2026 as Digital Assets Advisor at TAO Synergies, taking part in two sessions on the Taostats Stage of the summit, held on 2–3 June 2026 at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in the Louvre Palace. On 2 June he was a panellist in "Subnets as an Asset Class: Building the On-Ramps for Institutional Capital", moderated by Victor Teixeiria, alongside Frank Schuil, Evan Malanga and Siam Kidd. On 3 June he moderated "Enterprise Adoption of Bittensor", a panel with Jose Rios, Jean-Thomas Ledore, Max Sebti and Shane Smith.

His earlier career ran through technology, trading and publishing. According to Wikipedia, he graduated from Cornell University in computer science in 1989, worked in the IT department at HBO and founded a company, Reset Inc. The same source says he traded for hedge funds from 2002 to 2005, ran a fund of hedge funds from 2004 to 2006, and in 2006 founded the financial social network StockPickr, which he sold in 2007. He has written more than 20 books, among them Choose Yourself (2013), and hosts The James Altucher Show podcast. His own website describes him as an investor, venture capitalist and writer.

TAO Synergies said that on 5 September 2025 he spoke at Google's Planet Scale Consumer AI event at Google Canada's Toronto headquarters, on the history of centralised and decentralised AI and the Bittensor ecosystem. The company's SEC filings state that The TAO Pod, a podcast it announced alongside its TAO Daily platform in September 2025, is hosted by him and Joseph Jacks.
