Jody Mettler

Jody Mettler spoke at Proof of Talk Paris 2026 as Chief Operating Officer of BitGo. On 2 June she joined “Privacy and Compliance: Two Sides of the Same Coin” on the Taostats Stage, with James Smith, Jens Hachmeister and Dr. Saj Khoshroo. Nicola Massella moderated the panel. Its place in the summit's tokenisation track provided the programme context for a discussion connecting privacy and institutional compliance.

BitGo's March 2026 annual report identified Mettler as Chief Operating Officer and President of BitGo Trust. The company’s December 2025 announcement of its conversion to a national trust bank identified her as President of BitGo Bank & Trust, N.A., as well as COO. A July 2026 interview in The Big Whale independently used both titles, supporting the distinction between her group operating role and her bank presidency.

Before BitGo, Mettler spent 22 years at Citibank, according to the annual report. In the July interview she separately described having spent 22 years there in payments. This professional background places her work at BitGo in the context of operating experience across traditional banking and digital asset infrastructure, without attributing the company's developments to her alone.

The interview also documented her perspective on the economics of custody. Mettler described custody as necessary infrastructure whose margins alone did not sustain a standalone business. She discussed the role of services built above that foundation and expected consolidation in the custody market. Her comments were an industry assessment made in July, rather than a report of outcomes already achieved.

She also addressed the progression from blockchain-based money toward liquid investment instruments and, later, less liquid real-world assets. Those published views extend the public record beyond her June programme appearance.
