Lily Liu is President of the Solana Foundation and a previous Proof of Talk speaker. Her public discussions focus on blockchain as financial infrastructure: a shared network for payments, assets and capital formation. She describes this direction as internet capital markets, emphasizing the ability to connect financial activity across borders through infrastructure available online.
In an April 2025 interview with BeInCrypto, Liu explained why she viewed Solana's changing application categories as parts of a broader platform. Payments, decentralized finance, digital collectibles and gaming were examples of different uses of the same underlying network. Her argument was that blockchain's purpose extended beyond any single asset category. She connected that argument to the distribution of financial assets and the possibility of participation in networks where value can accrue to their users. These were her stated ambitions for the technology, rather than guarantees about access or economic outcomes.
At Consensus Miami in May 2026, Liu discussed stablecoins and the relationship between blockchain payments and artificial intelligence. CoinDesk's interview coverage reported her view that automated commerce would need infrastructure capable of handling small transactions. She also stressed that transaction speed and cost were only part of the proposition: liquidity, developers and surrounding applications mattered to enterprise use. Her account linked payment adoption to a wider financial ecosystem, rather than treating the chain as an isolated technical product.
The Solana Foundation's August 2026 announcement continued to identify Liu as its president. In that announcement she described the opportunity to create markets that operate continuously and are accessible through an internet connection. Across these discussions, her focus remained the connection between usable financial infrastructure and the people or businesses transacting through it. That perspective brings payments, asset distribution and emerging machine commerce into the same discussion of how blockchain networks can support capital markets.
