Ronit Ghose spent almost 30 years at Citi, latterly leading its Future of Finance team, and has argued that regulation is what moves stablecoins into the financial core.

The Biography

The full account.

Ronit Ghose is an Industry Fellow at Cambridge Judge Business School and an Advisory Board member at Imperial College Business School, according to his speaker listing for Nordic Fintech Week in Copenhagen in September 2026. The same listing says he spent almost 30 years at Citi, most recently as Head of the Future of Finance team and before that as Global Head of Banks and FinTech Research, and that he now advises financial institutions, technology companies and investors on corporate strategy, capital markets engagement and future of finance topics.

A SALT speaker biography dates his time at Citi from 1997, during which he covered banks in the Americas, Asia and EMEA, and names him as lead author of Citi's GPS Bank of the Future and FinTech report series, whose first edition it says passed 250,000 downloads. Before Citi he worked at the British Bankers' Association and as a research assistant in the UK Parliament. He holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Oxford and a postgraduate diploma from the University of London, and is a CFA charter holder. He is the author of Future Money, published by Kogan Page in 2024.

Ghose spoke at Proof of Talk Paris 2026 as Global Head of Future of Finance at Citi. On the first day of the summit, 2 June 2026, he appeared on the Hecto Main Stage from 15:00 to 15:30 in a fireside titled "What Institutions Need From Blockchain Infrastructure", alongside Evan Cheng, with Frank Chaparro moderating. Citi had published its GPS report Tokenization 2030: Wall Street On-Chain on 1 June, and he is listed first among its six authors. A 10 June 2026 press release on the summit said he presented the report, which puts the current global market for tokenised digital investments at 17 billion dollars.

His public commentary has centred on stablecoins and regulation. In a May 2025 interview with Nordic Fintech Magazine, he called regulation "the unlock" for stablecoins, and argued that reserve requirements could leave issuers holding over 1 trillion dollars in US Treasuries by 2030 if the market plays out as expected.

The Thesis · on the record

What Ronit believes about the next ten years.

01
Regulation is the unlock
In a May 2025 Nordic Fintech Magazine interview, Ghose said that without regulation stablecoins stay "in limbo", and that with it they become part of the financial core.
02
Stablecoin growth will show up in Treasury demand
In the same interview he argued that because each stablecoin needs a reserve, issuers could hold over 1 trillion dollars in US Treasuries by 2030 if the market plays out as expected.

In Their Words

Lines that keep proving correct.

The regulation is the unlock. Without it, the system stays in limbo. With it, stablecoins become part of the financial core.

Nordic Fintech Magazine, 19 May 2025

Each stablecoin issued needs a reserve. That means more demand for safe assets like U.S. Treasuries. If the market plays out as expected, stablecoin issuers could be holding over 1 trillion dollars in Treasuries by 2030.
