Suzanne Morsfield

Global Head of Accounting and Tax Solutions, Lukka

Morsfield works at the point where crypto-asset accounting and tax rules are still being written, through standard-setting committees, a digital asset data firm and UK industry policy.

The Significance

Why the room needs them.

Suzanne Morsfield is CFO and Global Head of Accounting and Tax Solutions at Lukka, the digital asset data firm. She spoke on global stablecoin rails at Proof of Talk Paris 2026 and has advised CryptoUK on crypto-asset accounting and tax policy.

The Biography

The full account.

Suzanne Morsfield, PhD, spoke at Proof of Talk Paris 2026 on the Taostats Stage as CFO and Global Head of Accounting and Tax Solutions at Lukka, sharing the panel "The Current State of Global Stablecoin Rails: Payments, Settlement and Compliance" on 3 June 2026 with Christian Niedermüller and Josiah Senu. Eddie Chong moderated the session.

Her career runs from public accounting and Wall Street research through standard-setting and into crypto. She has held roles at EY, JP Morgan, Morgan Stanley and Thomson Reuters, and served as Director of Research at Columbia Business School's Center for Excellence in Accounting and Security Analysis. She then joined the IFRS Foundation, where she led projects on improving financial reporting standards, and served on committees for both the IFRS Foundation and the US Financial Accounting Standards Board. She holds a PhD from the University of Arizona and has lectured at New York University and the London School of Economics.

For the UK's 2019 Independent Review into the Quality and Effectiveness of Audit, chaired by Sir Donald Brydon, she was commissioned, with Alison Thomas, to study how investors use audited corporate reporting information.

At Lukka, a data and software provider for institutions handling crypto assets, she was publicly identified in January 2022 as Global Head of Accounting Solutions and the firm's subject-matter expert on fair-value measurement and the valuation of crypto holdings. By March 2026 she was billed as the company's CFO and Global Head of Accounting and Tax Solutions, speaking at Next Block Expo in Warsaw on what it takes to connect traditional finance and blockchain infrastructure without breaking either.

She has also worked on UK policy. By July 2024 she was serving as policy advisor to CryptoUK, the trade association, engaging with global accounting standard-setters on how crypto-asset reporting rules should evolve, and in November 2025 CryptoUK named her co-lead of its Tax Working Group and sent her to the ICAEW's Crypto and Digital Assets Conference to cover accounting fundamentals for cryptoassets. Speaking to DL News in 2024 about proposed UK capital gains changes, she argued that they would fall on "everyday people with relatively small holdings" and that such changes shift investor behaviour in ways that can undercut the revenue they are modelled to raise.

The Thesis · on the record

What Suzanne believes about the next ten years.

01
Crypto capital gains tax burdens ordinary holders, not only the wealthy
Discussing proposed UK capital gains changes in 2024, Morsfield said the perception that such taxes mostly reach "the upper echelons of society" is "not 100% accurate, especially when it comes to crypto", because "it's everyday people with relatively small holdings who will get hit disproportionately."
02
Tax rules for crypto change investor behaviour
She has argued that capital gains tax changes alter how and when crypto investors sell or hold, and can therefore raise less than forecast: "Investors decide to sell earlier or hold on longer, and then you don't get the taxes you've modelled for."
03
Crypto accounting standards are still catching up
As CryptoUK's policy advisor she reported back in July 2024 from discussions with global accounting standard-setters on how rules for valuing and reporting crypto assets are evolving, and what remains unsettled.

In Their Words

Lines that keep proving correct.

There's a perception that capital gains tax mostly reaches the upper echelons of society… that it's a way of making the wealthy shoulder more of the burden. That's not 100% accurate, especially when it comes to crypto.

DL News, 29 October 2024

The punchline is that with capital gains taxes, people change their behaviour. Investors decide to sell earlier or hold on longer, and then you don't get the taxes you've modelled for.
