Deus X Capital

Tim Grant

CEO, Deus X Capital

Deus X Capital does not only write cheques, it owns and runs businesses, and its chief executive judges tokenisation by one test: whether anyone can get a price.

The Significance

Why the room needs them.

Tim Grant is chief executive of Deus X Capital, and previously ran SIX Digital Exchange and Galaxy Digital's European business. Deus X is a family-office-backed investor and operator whose businesses include Deus X Pay, Solstice and Cor Prime. He spoke at Proof of Talk Paris 2026 on the Taostats Stage, on the move from enterprise blockchain to tokenised markets.

The Thesis · on the record

What Tim believes about the next ten years.

01
Tokenisation is nothing without liquidity
Grant told Benzinga in June 2025 that tokenising an asset achieves little on its own: if you cannot get a price on it, and cannot buy and sell it, the fact that it has been tokenised makes no difference. He expected the sector to take years to mature.
02
Institutional money arrives through allocators, not better apps
In the same interview he argued that DeFi will grow when the big asset managers and wealth management platforms route money into it, rather than through improvements to user experience.
03
Integrate with traditional finance rather than replace it
Describing what pulled him into digital assets after meeting the Ripple and Coinbase teams in 2015, he told CoinDesk in January 2026 that the appeal was faster settlement, lower costs and greater transparency achieved by integrating with the existing system, not by displacing it.
04
Investing and operating belong in the same firm
Grant has said Deus X's growth strategy is deliberately hands-on and infrastructure-led. The group builds and owns businesses such as Alpha Lab 40, Deus X Pay and Solstice rather than only taking stakes in them, while also investing, as with its July 2024 stake in APEX:E3.

In Their Words

Lines that keep proving correct.

Tokenization is nothing without liquidity. If you can't get a price on it, if you can't buy and sell it, the fact that it's tokenized doesn't make any difference

Benzinga, 11 June 2025

The way money is going to make its way in is… through the big asset managers and the wealth management platforms

Benzinga, 11 June 2025

What I saw was a powerful new toolset and the opportunity to address those inefficiencies in a practical way, faster settlement, lower costs, greater transparency, not by replacing traditional finance, but by integrating with it

CoinDesk, 26 January 2026
