The Biography

The full account.

Tony Ashraf is a previous Proof of Talk speaker and Managing Director and Global Head of Digital Asset Transformation at BlackRock. His professional focus is the relationship between blockchain technology and the operating models of an asset manager. A dated Binance Blockchain Week account identifies him under that title in December 2025, while independent reporting by Exame and The Big Whale corroborates his BlackRock affiliation and digital-asset remit.

In Exame’s account of the December discussion, Ashraf set out three parts of BlackRock’s approach to digital assets. The first involved treating cryptocurrencies as an asset class and connecting investment products with established market and technology structures. The second concerned stablecoins as a means of transferring value. The third was tokenisation, which he described through its potential to change how investment products reach users. These were reported public positions, rather than claims about products he personally created.

The same account explains the connection between those approaches: digital assets can enter existing financial structures, while traditional assets can also become accessible through blockchain-based markets. Ashraf described broader access to investment products as the common purpose. That perspective places distribution and financial infrastructure alongside the assets themselves when discussing institutional adoption.

His public programme record also includes the International Capital Market Association’s AMIC Forum in October 2024, where he was listed for a discussion of fintech trends. The event agenda paired his BlackRock role with participants from market infrastructure, banking and corporate treasury. It provides another dated record of his work at the intersection of investment management and changing financial systems.

The Big Whale’s professional profile describes his remit as spanning internal teams and external industry partners, including distributed-ledger market infrastructure, tokenisation and institutional digital-asset solutions. These records give a concrete account of his transformation role and the subjects he addresses publicly.
