Xiao-Xiao J. Zhu

Xiao-Xiao J. Zhu is President of Jupiter, the Solana-based onchain finance platform at jup.ag. Announcing the move on 10 December 2025, he put his time at KKR at five years; Coinspeaker reported it the following day, alongside Jupiter's acquisition of the lending platform RainFi.

He spoke at Proof of Talk Paris 2026 as a panellist on "Building Sustainable Yield in DeFi: Lending, Liquidity and Risk", on the Taostats Stage at 13:35 on 3 June 2026. His co-panellists were Tuongvy Le, General Counsel at Veda, and Travis Hayes, Head of Capital Markets at Temple; Christine Lee, an adviser to Quantena.org, moderated. 51 Insights later published an interview with him recorded live at the Paris edition.

Before Jupiter he was Digital Operating Partner at KKR, where, per his own Consensus speaker biography, he led its global digital assets strategy, including investments in Dragonfly Capital and Anchorage Digital, and technology private equity value creation at Axel Springer and Landal & Roompot. City Week billed him under that title in 2024, in a biography describing him as co-leading that strategy. Earlier he was a General Manager at BCG Digital Ventures, credited in that biography with founding, launching and scaling heycar UK, a used-car marketplace built with Volkswagen and Daimler, and Tracr, a blockchain-based diamond asset tracking platform built with De Beers. He began his business career as a management consultant at the Boston Consulting Group.

His public argument is about interface rather than infrastructure. On a Solana builders panel at Consensus Hong Kong in February 2026, reported by CoinDesk, he said users "absolutely do not care" whether an application is built on Solana or Ethereum, and that value is increasingly accruing to the application layer. Interviewed by BTC-ECHO in July 2026, in a fireside chat at Solana Summit Germany in Berlin, he put DeFi's cost to users in practical terms: a new app for each use case, a fresh registration, another wallet to create and connect. He also rejected the description of Jupiter as a technology gatekeeper, saying it controls neither customer funds nor user data.

Zhu holds an MSc in Managerial Economics and Strategy from the London School of Economics and a BA in Philosophy and Economics from Humboldt University Berlin, and trained in concert piano at the Berlin University of the Arts. Per his own biography he performed professionally as a concert pianist, on stages including the Berlin Philharmonie.
