Xiao-Xiao J. Zhu

President, Jupiter

Users do not care which chain they are on; what they notice is a separate app for every use case, a fresh registration and another wallet to connect.

The Significance

Why the room needs them.

Xiao-Xiao J. Zhu is President of Jupiter, the Solana-based onchain finance platform, which he joined in December 2025 after five years at KKR. He spoke at Proof of Talk Paris 2026 as a panellist on building sustainable yield in DeFi, arguing that users judge onchain finance by its interface rather than its infrastructure.

The Thesis · on the record

What Xiao-Xiao believes about the next ten years.

01
The chain is not the product
On a Solana builders panel at Consensus Hong Kong in February 2026, reported by CoinDesk, he said users "absolutely do not care whether an application is built on Solana or Ethereum. It's just about the user-experience". The remark came in the context of value increasingly accruing to the application layer.
02
Fragmentation is the cost users actually feel
Asked by BTC-ECHO in July 2026 what is wrong with DeFi today, he described the pattern rather than the technology: a separate app for each use case, a fresh registration, a new wallet to create and possibly connect. The super-app, he said in the same interview, is a vision that emerged quite organically.
03
Aggregation without gatekeeping
He told BTC-ECHO that Jupiter is "very sensitive" about the phrase technology gatekeeper and does not want to be one, and that what separates it from centralised platforms is that it controls neither customer funds nor user data. In the same interview he argued that, on infrastructure and execution alone, centralised exchanges and decentralised venues no longer differ much.

In Their Words

Lines that keep proving correct.

Users absolutely do not care whether an application is built on Solana or Ethereum. It's just about the user-experience

The future of capital markets is one where any regulated asset can be issued, distributed, and traded onchain with the same liquidity and trust as any traditional venue.

We are very sensitive about the word technology gatekeeper. That is absolutely not what we want to be.
