Yat Siu is co-founder and executive chairman of Animoca Brands and a previous Proof of Talk speaker. His public work connects digital ownership with the development of online economies. Animoca Brands builds and invests in digital asset businesses, with activities spanning consumer applications and infrastructure. Its current leadership profile identifies Siu's focus on ecosystems involving artificial intelligence, decentralized environments and the emerging agentic web.
Siu discussed digital ownership in a TED talk recorded in April 2023. He presented the open metaverse as a decentralized version of the internet and explored its relationship to creators and economic participation. The talk framed Web3 around who owns assets and shares in the value generated by online activity. That argument provides a basis for discussing ownership beyond the trading of tokens, while remaining a statement of his proposed direction for technology.
In a February 2026 interview with The Korea Times, Siu extended this discussion to artificial intelligence agents. He argued that practical applications could bring blockchain into everyday activity without requiring users to think about the underlying technology. His examples involved software acting on a user's behalf and the need for a transaction layer that such software could read and verify. He emphasized utility as a route to adoption, rather than treating trading activity as the only purpose of digital assets.
A June 2026 company announcement continued to identify Siu as co-founder and executive chairman. His comments connected Animoca Brands' next phase to AI, the agentic web and real-world assets. The announcement described the company's platforms and services as part of that broader strategy. These were corporate activities and stated plans, rather than personal product achievements. Taken together, his talks and interviews examine how control over digital assets relates to participation in networks, and how that question may change when transactions are carried out by software as well as people.
